The Technical Bulletin is designed to provide assistance to growers and extensionists in identifying the causes of field problems in flue cured tobacco production in Zimbabwe
Research and experience have shown that the yield and quality of the tobacco crop are largely dependent on four major aspects: the geographic area, the quality of the season, the variety and, most importantly, the grower. The focus of this "Guide" is therefore, the grower. The emphasis is on 'when and how' any particular tobacco operation should be conducted for maximum yield and quality.
This Handbook of Recommendations is a synthesis of information and knowledge arising from direct scientific experimentation and cumulative research experience, over several decades. It therefore, should be retained as a permanent reference, especially by growers. The Handbook does not replace the need to consult TRB staff who are available to assist at all times. The current 60th anniversary edition of the Handbook has been thoroughly reviewed with all sections updated.
This Tobacco Planning Diary is intended to assist extension workers contractors and growers and to complement other available publications in the sustainable and profitable production of tobacco utilising best practices. Advice and assistance is provided free of charge to any person growing tobacco in Zimbabwe
