The following services are provided by Analytical Chemistry, an ISO 17025 accredited Laboratory using state of the art equipment and highly skilled personnel.

The standard pesticide screen is carried out using both gas chromatography (GC) and liquid chromatography (LC) techniques coupled with highly sensitive and selective detectors. Our expert scientists help to interpret and advise customers on the results and thus provide solutions to the most complex analytical questions. Water testing is done using AAS, UV-Vis spectrometer, pH and EC meters.

Pesticide residue analysis

The laboratory makes use of a wide range of analytical chemical techniques to determine the levels of pesticide residues in different agricultural products. It provides a GLP service to ensure customer regulatory compliance with guidance residue levels which when in excess; they can be harmful to consumers.

Sample matrices

The laboratory has considerable experience and expertise in a wide variety of sample matrices including:
  • Tobacco
  • Fruit and vegetables
  • Water
  • Soil
  • Foliar
  • Food and beverages

  • Product analysis

Different agrochemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides are analysed in order to determine their efficacy and purity.

    Water testing

The laboratory is also involved in the analysis of underground and surface water to determine the suitability for drinking, irrigation and disposal.

    Drinking water

Frequent monitoring of drinking water is carried out to monitor contamination in drinking water which can be detrimental to health. Results should be in compliance with set guidelines.

    Drinking water analytical parameters

pH, Electric Conductivity, Calcium, Nitrate, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Sulphate, TDS, Total Nitrogen, Alkalinity, Hardness, Phosphate and Metals (trace elements)

    Irrigation water

Irrigation water monitoring is important for diagnosis of water quality related problems as well as for assessing irrigation water nutrient content when used for fertigation.

    Irrigation water analytical parameters

pH, Electric Conductivity, Calcium, Nitrate, Nitrite, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Chloride, Sulphate, TDS, Hardness, Bicarbonate, Carbonate, Phosphate, TSS and metals (trace elements)

    Effluent water

Effluent water monitoring is essential to avoid point source pollution of water bodies.

    Effluent analytical parameters

pH, EC, Chloride, BOD , DO, COD , TDS, TSS, Calcium, Nitrate, Nitrite, Magnesium, Sodium, Potassium, Sulphate, Phosphate, PV, Oil & Grease, Metals (trace elements and heavy metals)

    Plant and foliar analysis

The laboratory applies different analytical techniques to determine the plant nutritional and chemical composition. Plant chemistry data obtained helps to plan plant nutrient application in relation to productivity

    Plant and foliar analytical parameters

Nicotine, Reducing Sugars, Total Nitrogen, Nitrates, Boron, Phosphorus, Sulphur, Chloride, Metals (trace elements and cations)

    Microbial analysis

Microbial analysis enables quantification and qualification of microbes in water, vegetables, finished products and the environment for hygiene purposes.
