Advert – Lab Field Assistant – Seed Technology

Overall Job Purpose
This is a 12-month fixed-term contract. The position is central to the Seed Technology Laboratory. The position requires technical knowledge and experience, exceptional planning, organization and analytical skills, a hands-on approach to work and very good engagement/communication skills. The incumbent should be a good team player and willing to work outside normal working hours and will be on a performance-based contract reporting to the Seed Technologist.
Job Description

Pelleting, film coating and packing tobacco seed.
Conduct seed quality tests.
Keep accurate and up-to-date records – pelleting, film coating and seed testing.
Record temperatures in seed rooms and incubators.
Train and supervise subordinates assisting in the Laboratory.
Ensure all set Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed at all time

Diploma in Agriculture
Computer literacy
Ability to pay attention to detail
Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures
Ability to train and supervise subordinates
A good communicator
Ability to identify challenges and suggest solutions
Clean class 3 and 4 driver’s licences are an added advantage
